§ 5.5-35. Duties of the alarm company.

  • At all times, an alarm company monitoring any alarm system located within the city limits shall:

    (1)

    Be a contractor as that term is defined in F.S. § 553.793(1)(a) and licensed under and comply with all rules and regulations promulgated under the authority of F.S. ch. 489;

    (2)

    Obtain and maintain any required state, county and/or city license and business tax receipts;

    (3)

    Provide the name, address and telephone number of the alarm company license holder or designee who can be called in an emergency at any time, twenty-four (24) hours a day, and will respond to an alarm call within two (2) hours of being notified of the need to do so;

    (4)

    Provide the city police department with the most current contact information including physical address of any alarm user subscribing to the alarm company's services;

    (5)

    Ninety (90) days after this chapter is enacted, only install, re-install and use alarm control panels that meet SIA Control Panel Standard CP-01;

    (6)

    Prior to activating any alarm system, provide the alarm user with system use instructions and explain in detail how the system is to be safely and properly operated;

    (7)

    Give the alarm user written materials outlining how alarm system service is to be obtained from the alarm company;

    (8)

    With the exception of a video or audio recorded crime in progress, a panic alarm signal or a robbery-in-progress alarm signal, verify an alarm signal before contacting law enforcement and requesting dispatch;

    (9)

    Upon request, provide law enforcement with available alarm signal location information; and

    (10)

    As soon as possible, contact the city police department to cancel law enforcement when it is determined that response to an alarm is unnecessary.
