§ 2-69. Intent and purpose.

  • The City of Winter Haven, Florida (hereafter the "city") has long recognized the value of the Winter Haven Municipal Airport Gilbert Field (hereafter "airport") in the promotion and sustaining the quality of life for all residents, citizens and users of the airport. In addition to increasing and maintaining property values, the airport provides an important means for education, transportation, infrastructure and recreational enhancement. Thus, the airport provides a physical, psychological and economic incentive to the city and its residents, citizens, and users. As the airport continues to add to the economic development and quality of life for all of the residents, citizens, and users of the airport it is vital that city continues to facilitate the communication about issues relating to the airport with the community it serves. Therefore, the purpose and intent of this article is to protect and preserve the airport and the city by receiving up to date information and suggestions in an advisory capacity to aid the city commission, the city manager, or any department of city government in its respective legislative oversight, regulatory, and/or other prescribed duties relating to the operation of a quality general purpose airport.
