§ 18-151. Definitions.

  • The following terms shall have the following meanings in the application and enforcement of this article:

    City streets means only those certain streets and/or roadways expressly designated in section 18-152(4) which the city commission specifically designates for the use and/or operation of golf carts within the municipal boundaries of the City of Winter Haven, Florida, and shall not include any street, roadway, right-of-way and/or sidewalk for which the city does not possess exclusive jurisdiction.

    Golf cart means, pursuant to F.S. § 320.01(22), a motor vehicle that is designed and manufactured for operation on a golf course for sporting or recreational purposes and that is not capable of exceeding speeds of twenty (20) miles per hour.

    Low-speed vehicle means, pursuant to F.S. § 320.01(41), any four-wheeled electric vehicle whose top speed is greater than twenty (20) miles per hour but not greater than twenty-five (25) miles per hour, including neighborhood electric vehicles. Low-speed vehicles must conform to the safety standards in 49 C.F.R. § 571.500 and F.S. § 316.2122.

    Utility vehicle means, pursuant to F.S. § 320.01(42), a motor vehicle designed and manufactured for general maintenance, security, and landscaping purposes, but the term does not include any vehicle designed or used primarily for transportation of person or property on a street or highway, or a golf cart, or an all-terrain vehicle as defined in F.S. § 316.2074.
